The New Age Outlaws

The New Age Outlaws
We could have ranked Billy Gunn on his own.  As one half of the Smoking Gunns, the Billy & Chuck tandem, and an up and down solo career post DX, he could have garnered a top 200 spot.  We also could have ranked the Road Dogg as a single as he had a lengthy career without Gunn.  Clearly we chose to pair them up as the duo of the “Road Dogg, Jesse James and the Bad Ass, Billy Gunn, The New Age Outlaws” were hands down the high water mark for both their careers.
Looking back, this duo shouldn’t have worked.  Brian Armstrong was coming off the sad gimmick of the “Real Double J” and Billy Gunn was the laughable Rockabilly.  They were about as far from being over as could be imagined and usually zero plus zero equals zero.  Instead they hit lightning in a bottle with their sophomoric attitude, Armstrong’s microphone work and allegiance to DX they became the most over tag team in the WWF.  Collectively they added to the already cool factor of D-Generation X, buried the Road Warriors and created a myriad of catch phrases.

Like most tag teams, the Outlaws were split up and though both Gunn and the Dogg continued to have success, they never reached the level they did when together.  Any chance that they would have for the WWE Hall of Fame would likely be if they go in together.
