Not in Hall of Fame News

We had heard that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was playing a part in the 2024 WWE Hall of Fame Class.  With the names that had been announced thus far (Paul Heyman, Bull Nakano, The U.S. Express and Thunderbolt Patterson, we had not seen any direct evidence to think that was the case.  This ends today with the announcement that his grandmother, Lia Maivia, will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The wife of WWE Hall of Famer Peter Maivia, Lia took over the Polynesian Pro Wrestling promotion following Peter’s death in 1982.  This made her one of the…
It was rumoured that a fifth name was being considered for the WWE Hall of Fame, and this morning it was announced that it is Thunderbolt Patterson. Born Claude Patterson in Iowa, he made his wrestling debut in 1964 and would work throughout various American promotions and won significant titles in the 1970s, including the Florida Heavyweight Title by defeating Bruiser Brody and the United States Title, with a shock win over the legendary Sheik.  He also was Ole Anderson’s tag team partner in 1984, where they held the National Tag Team Titles. Patterson was not the smoothest in-ring worker,…
It is very much a new era for the WWE Hall of Fame.  In the past, it was described that former owner and chairman Vince McMahon had made the calls as to who would be in the Hall.  With him out of the picture, Jean “Triple H” Levesque” has taken over that duty, and with alleged input from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, we are seeing a cohesive list of names emerge. This past week, Paul Heyman, Bull Nakano and the U.S. Express (Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo) were named to the Hall, and now we have a huge name, albeit…
Last night at UFC 299, the UFC announced that Joanna Jendrzejczyk will enter their Hall of Fame in the Modern Wing as part of the 2024 Class. The induction will take this June as part of International Fight Week in Las Vegas. From Poland, Jendrzejczyk first studied Muay Thai and Kickboxing and won multiple tournaments and titles in both sports.  She made her Mixed Martial Arts Debut in 2012, and two years later, she joined the UFC.  Less than a year after her debut in the UFC, she easily beat Carla Esparza for the Strawweight Championship at UFC 185.  Jendrzejczyk…
It is a tough week to be a Philadelphia Eagles fan.  Days after star Center Jason Kelce retired from the NFL, Defensive Tackle Fletcher Cox announced his retirement from the game of football. Like Kelce, Cox played his entire 12-year career with the Eagles, the team that drafted him 12th Overall from Mississippi State in 2012. As the Eagles hoped, Cox made an immediate impact as a starting Defensive Tackle, earning All-Rookie honors.  Comfortable against the rush and pass, Cox began a six-year run of consecutive Pro Bowls in 2015 and was also a First Team All-Pro in 2018.  Cox…
This makes three! Two days after the WWE announced that Bull Nakano would be entering the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2024 as their second entrant, a third, former WWE Tag Team Champions, The U.S. Express (Barry Windham & Mike Rotundo) will also be enshrined. Windham and Rotundo first teamed in Championship Wrestling from Florida, winning the United States Tag Team Titles multiple times.  They went to the then-named WWF in late 1984 and were now named the U.S. Express.   Within months of their debut, they defeated Adrian Adonis and Dick Murdoch to win the WWF World Tag Team…

1957 SEMI-FINAL RESULTS: Thank you for all of your participation in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Revisited Project. If you are unaware of what that is, simply, we acted as if the PFHOF had its first class in January 1946. We have completed the years up to 1956. For “1957,” a Preliminary Vote with over 130 players whose playing career ended by 1951. We are also following the structure in that players have 20 years of eligibility, and if they do not make it into the Hall, they are relegated to the Senior Pool. Each voter was asked to…
Two days after the WWE announced that Paul Heyman would be entering the WWE Hall of Fame, the second entrant, former WWE Women’s Champion Bull Nakano, has been announced. Nakano began wrestling in her native Japan at the age of 15 and was a natural.  She would shortly join Dump Matsumoto and begin a reign of terror throughout All-Japan Women’s Wrestling.  Adopting a gigantic hairstyle and adding girth, Nakano was a beast of the division, and by 1990, became the face of the company and their top singles champion for over two years.  After she lost the title to Aja…
On Sean Casey’s podcast yesterday, Josh Donaldson announced his retirement from Major League Baseball. A controversial player who wore his emotions on his sleeves, Donaldson was first drafted by the Chicago Cubs as a Catcher, but after he was traded to the Oakland Athletics and was converted to a Third Baseman, he had a path to the Majors.  Donaldson debuted in Oakland in 2010 for a brief stay, but was back in 2012 to start the year, though was sent back down to AAA.  After he was called back up in August, Donaldson was back to stay. Donaldson batted .301…
