The NFL career of Billy Sims was only five seasons, but he was hands down one of the most explosive Running Backs of the early ’80s and a bonafide fan favorite, and not just amongst the Detroit faithful.
Sims was the Offensive Rookie of the Year following a Heisman Trophy two years prior. He rushed for over 1,000 Yards in three of his five seasons and was a Pro Bowler for three of those three campaigns. In his five seasons of service in the National Football League, Billy Sims had over 7,000 Yards From Scrimmage and had an Approximate Value of 63 in only 60 Games.
