gold star for USAHOF

1. Bob Pettit

1. Bob Pettit
Bob Pettit played 11 seasons in the NBA, all with the Hawks, and all of them with a trip to the All-Star Game.

Pretty impressive isn’t it?

Pettit did it all with the St. Louis Hawks.  A two-time MVP, a four-time All-Star Game MVP, a member of 10 First Team All NBA rosters, a selection for the 25th, 35th, and 50th NBA Anniversary Team, and the leader of the Hawks’ (to date) only Championship.

How can we pick anyone else?

There is more.

In a season, Pettit never finished below 20 Points per Game.  He never was out of the top ten in scoring.  He never finished with less than 12 Rebounds per Game.  He never stopped being classy.  The 1971 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee and two-time Scoring champion averaged 26.4 Points and 16.2 Rebounds per Game.  Pettit would have his number 9 retired by the team, the first in franchise history to earn this accolade.

Not bad for a player who was cut from both his freshman and sophomore high school team!
