2. Jason Kidd
An exceptionally versatile Point Guard, Jason Kidd took the New Jersey Nets to two consecutive NBA Finals, and though he did not win, he was able to taste the championship with a lesser role with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011. Kidd was not just a machine in regards to his Assists, but his defensive skills made him one of the most valuable players on the court and a perennial MVP candidate.

Kidd’s trophy case is full even without an MVP Award, as he was the Co-Rookie of the Year in 1995, a First Team All-NBA selection five times, a Second Team once, a member of the First Team All Defensive squad four times, Second Team five times and an All Star Game participant ten times. Jason Kidd would also top the Assists per Game in a season five times and is number two all time in Assists and Steals. His first ballot entry should be an automatic assumption, hence why he debuts here at #1.

@Harry Martin We haven't missed them. The abrupt change in the HOF eligibility requirements has caused us to revise the list, which we are working on now. Two weeks ago the players you mentioned were not officially eligible.

Kidd will for sure get in first year. You seem to be missing Steve Nash, Ray Allen and Chauncey Billions on your list. Surely Nash will get in on his first try and Allen has a chance.

Kidd was the starting point guard for the Mavericks when they won the NBA Championship. And he played really well in that series. They absolutely do not win that championship without Kidd.
