When Rick Aguilera was traded midway through the 1989 season he was hoping to remain a starter, which he was until the end of the year. That changed in 1990 when he was named the team closer, a move that benefited both Aguilera and the Twins.
Aguilera would become a top reliever in the American League going to three All-Star Games and recording 254 Saves for Minnesota. Most importantly he aided Minnesota in winning the 1991 World Series where he became the first pitcher in twenty-five years to be brought into the pinch-hit in a game.
He was inducted into the Twins Hall of Fame in 2008.
