Justin Verlander played a pair of Games in 2005, and he shot out of the gate as a rookie in 2006, winning the American League Rookie of the Year Award with a 17-9 record.  Some ROYs falter, but this would not be the case for JV.
It Verlander would be named an All-Star in 2008, finishing fifth in Cy Young voting, and while he had a poor 2009, he would then embark on the greatest run of his career.  He would go to the All-Star every season from 2009 to 2014, leading the AL in Wins twice.  He was third in Cy Young voting in 2009, second in 2012, and in 2011 he would win that award and the MVP.  That year he would go 24-5, and led the AL in ERA (2.40) and WHIP (0.920).  The Tigers would go to four consecutive playoffs, and had it not been for Verlander, they likely would not have won the Pennant in 2012.

During the 2017 season, it was clear that the Tigers were no longer competitive, and he was traded to the Houston Astros, where he would help them win their first (and his first) World Series Championship.  With Detroit, he went 183-114 with 2,373 Strikeouts.
